What Is Climbing?

Climbing is a fun activity where people use their hands and feet to go up steep things. These can be big mountains or small rocks. People climb for many reasons: to have fun, to move from place to place, or even for jobs.

Where Do People Climb?

Climbing can happen both inside buildings and outside. Outside, people climb natural rocks or ice. Inside, there are special places called climbing walls and climbing gyms. These places let people practice climbing safely without needing to go to a real mountain.

Why Is Climbing Popular?

Climbing became a popular sport as climbers reached new heights and used better tools. Famous climbers like Reinhold Messner and Janja Garnbret helped make climbing well-known. Today, climbing is even an Olympic sport! People can climb in different ways, such as rock climbing, ice climbing, and competition climbing.

Fun Climbing Activities

There are many fun ways to enjoy climbing. Some people like to climb trees or tall buildings. Others enjoy climbing along canyons or on special walls inside buildings. Climbing can also help improve health by setting goals and building confidence.
