Conakry

Conakry is the capital city of Guinea. It is a busy port city where many people live and work. About one-sixth of all the people in Guinea call Conakry home.

Conakry started on a small island called Tombo Island and grew onto nearby land. The city has many names in local languages, like Kɔnakiri in Susu and Kɔnakrí in N'Ko. It became important for trade, especially after a railway was built to carry goods.

Conakry has many places to explore. You can visit the Sandervalia National Museum to see interesting objects. There are also beautiful parks like Jardin 2 Octobre and the Conakry Botanical Garden. The city has important buildings such as the Presidential Palace and Palais Mohammed V.

People in Conakry enjoy many activities. The city has schools and universities, including the University of Conakry. There are also markets like Marché Madina where you can find many things to see and buy. Conakry is a place full of life and culture.
