What Is Dirt?

Dirt is something that makes things look messy or unclean. It can get on our clothes, skin, or anything we use. There are many kinds of dirt all around us, like dust, soil, and little pieces of waste.

Kinds of Dirt

One common type of dirt is dust, a fine powder that can come from nature or buildings. Soil is the mix of clay, sand, and humus that helps plants grow. Sometimes, we call unwanted dirt on our clothes or tables โ€œsoilโ€ too.

Dirt and Health

Even though dirt can look messy, it can be good for us. Some scientists think that a little dirt helps our bodies stay healthy. Tiny germs on our skin can teach our bodies how to stay strong.
