Welcome to Dudley
Dudley is a friendly market town in the West Midlands of England. It is close to Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Once part of Worcestershire, Dudley is now the main town of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley.
A Town with History
Dudley has a long and interesting history. Its name means "Dudda's clearing." The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book from 1086. A big castle was built there in 1070, which helped the town grow. During the Industrial Revolution, Dudley became important for making iron, digging coal, and working with limestone.
Things to See and Do
Today, Dudley is known for its many places to visit. You can see the ruins of Dudley Castle, which looks over the town. Dudley Zoo is in the castle grounds and has many interesting animals. The Black Country Living Museum shows how people lived and worked during the Industrial Revolution. Dudley is often called the capital of the Black Country.

Dudley has many places for fun and learning. You can visit the Dudley Museum and Art Gallery, watch a movie, or enjoy a dance or concert at the Town Hall. The town also has beautiful canals where you can walk, bike, fish, or boat.
