The Former Qin
The Former Qin was an old state in China that started in 351 AD. It was ruled by a group of people called the Fu clan. Their big city was Chang'an, which is a very old and important place.
The most famous ruler was Fu Jiān, also called Emperor Xuanzhao. In 376 AD, he brought together all of northern China under one rule. This was a big achievement because no other state from that time, called the Sixteen Kingdoms, had done this before.
Fu Jiān was known for being kind to people he defeated. He let them work in his government. He also liked learning and brought back old Chinese traditions. He was interested in Buddhism too and welcomed a Buddhist monk to his court.
Even though the Former Qin had many good times, they faced challenges. In 383 AD, they lost a big battle against the Jin dynasty. After this, the state began to break apart. By 394 AD, the Former Qin had ended, but they are remembered for bringing people together and supporting learning and culture.
