Friuli
Friuli is a special area in the northeast part of Italy. It is home to the Friulians, a group of people who speak their own beautiful language called Friulian.
Friuli is part of a bigger area named Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It includes the cities of Udine, Pordenone, and Gorizia.
The name Friuli comes from an old Roman town called Forum Iulii, meaning "Julius' Forum." Today, this place is known as Cividale del Friuli.
Friuli has many different landscapes. In the north, you can find high mountains like Peralba and Coglians. Rivers such as the Tagliamento flow through wide, green plains.
The climate in Friuli changes depending on where you are. In the plains, it is good for growing grapes to make white wine. In the hills and mountains, the weather gets cooler.
Many people from Friuli have moved to other countries over the years. Today, there are cultural groups called Fogolârs furlans all around the world, keeping their traditions alive.
An asteroid in space, named 212705 Friûl, was named after this wonderful place.
