Georgetown, Guyana
Georgetown is the capital city of Guyana. It is a busy city along the Atlantic Ocean where the Demerara River meets the sea. People often call it the "Garden City of the Caribbean" because it has many green spaces and parks.
Georgetown is very important for Guyana. Almost all of the country’s government offices are there, like the Parliament Building and the State House, where the leader of the country works. The city is also home to the main offices of the Caribbean Community, a group of fifteen countries that work together.
The city has many interesting old buildings. Two famous ones are the tall wooden St. George's Cathedral and the colorful Stabroek Market. These buildings show the rich history and culture of Georgetown.
Georgetown is a lively place with many things to see and do. You can visit Independence Square and the Promenade Gardens, the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, and the National Library. The city has wide streets and many old wooden buildings that make it a special place to explore.
