The German Empire

The German Empire was a powerful country in Europe from 1871 to 1918. It started when many German states joined together, with Prussia as the leader. The King of Prussia became the German Emperor, and the capital city was Berlin.

Growing Strong

During its time, the German Empire became very strong in making things and learning new things. People built many railroads, and German scientists did amazing work. The first leader was Otto von Bismarck, who helped make new rules to help workers. Later, Wilhelm II became the emperor.

A Busy Place

The German Empire had many states, each with its own leaders, but Prussia was the biggest and most important. People spoke many languages, but most spoke German. The country was good at making steel, chemicals, and many other things. It even had its own navy and army.

The End

The German Empire ended after a very difficult time when countries did not get along. The emperor stepped down, and Germany became a new kind of country. Today, people remember the German Empire for its big changes and strong industry.
