Great Union Day
Great Union Day is a special holiday in Romania. It is celebrated on December 1st every year. This day remembers when parts of Transylvania, Bassarabia, and Bukovina joined together with the Romanian Kingdom in 1918. It is also called Unification Day or National Day.
People in Romania celebrate this day with joy. There are big parades, music, and flags. The most famous parade happens in Bucharest. The President of Romania watches as soldiers march and music plays. It is a time for families to come together and feel proud of their country.
This holiday was moved to December 1st in 1990. Before that, it was celebrated on different dates. But now, everyone marks the same day to honor the joining of these lands long ago. It is a day full of happiness and remembrance for Romania’s history.
