Welcome to Jakarta!

Jakarta is the big, busy capital city of Indonesia. It sits right on the edge of the Java Sea on the island of Java. Imagine a place where many people live and work together, with tall buildings and busy streets!

A City With Many Names

Long ago, Jakarta was called Sunda Kelapa. Then, new people came and changed its name to Jayakarta. Later, it was called Batavia when Dutch people lived there. Today, we call it Jakarta. It’s like a puzzle with many pieces of history!

Important City

Jakarta is very important for Indonesia. It is where leaders make big decisions for the whole country. Many banks, shops, and offices are here. People from all over Indonesia come to Jakarta to work, study, or visit.

Fun Places to Visit

Jakarta has many places to explore! You can see tall towers like the Autograph Tower, which touches the sky. There are big parks where you can play, like Ragunan Zoo, where you can see animals from all around the world. Another fun spot is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, where you can learn about different cultures in Indonesia.

A Mix of People

Jakarta is home to people from many parts of Indonesia. You might meet Javanese, Betawi, Sundanese, or even Chinese Indonesians. Everyone brings their own traditions, foods, and stories, making Jakarta a colorful place to live and visit.
