Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
The Khangai Mountains are a beautiful mountain range in the middle of Mongolia. They are about 400 km (250 mi) west of the big city, Ulaanbaatar. These mountains rise high above the flat lands, making the land around them very special.
The Khangai Mountains are full of amazing plants and animals. Many people who love nature visit here to see all the wonderful things that live there. Two areas in Mongolia are named after these mountains: Arkhangai in the north and Ovorkhangai in the south.
The tallest mountain in the Khangai range is called Otgontenger, which means “Youngest sky.” It is very tall, about 4,000 metres high, and many people think it is very special. The mountains also give water to many rivers, like the Orkhon, Selenge, and Zavkhan.
Some parts of the Khangai Mountains have milder weather. Even in winter, it can be a little warmer there than in other places in Mongolia. This makes the area very nice for both plants and animals.
