King Lear

King Lear is a famous play written by William Shakespeare. It is a story about a king who lives in old Britain before Rome was around. The play has many deep feelings and beautiful words.

King Lear has three daughters: Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. He decides to share his land with them. But things do not go as he hopes, and the story becomes very sad.

People love this play because of its lovely poetry and important ideas about being human (human nature). It was first performed on Saint Stephen's Day in 1606.

The play has many well-known characters, like the wise The Fool who travels with Lear. Even today, actors around the world still perform King Lear, making it one of Shakespeare’s most loved works.
