Lacrosse

Lacrosse is an exciting team sport where players use special sticks to move and throw a small ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America. Many Native American communities played a version of lacrosse long ago.

Players hold a lacrosse stick with a net at the top. They use it to catch, pass, and shoot the ball into the other team’s goal. There are different kinds of lacrosse, like field lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, and box lacrosse. Each type has its own rules and ways of playing.

Lacrosse was first seen by a French missionary named Jean de Brébeuf in the 1600s. He called the game la crosse, meaning “the stick” in French. Later, a Canadian man named William George Beers made new rules to make the game shorter and safer. Now, lacrosse is played all over the world.

People love lacrosse because it is fun and full of action. It teaches teamwork and quick thinking. Girls and boys, women and men, all can enjoy playing this wonderful game together.
