Welcome to Macau!
Macau is a special place that belongs to China. It is made up of small islands and land built out into the water. You can find it close to Hong Kong, near the big Pearl River estuary. Macau is very crowded, with many people living in a tiny space!
Long ago, people from Portugal lived here and helped it grow. Today, Macau keeps its own ways of doing things, even though it is part of China. One big reason people visit Macau is for its bright lights and fun places to play. It is one of the most visited cities in the whole world!
Macau is also known for being very healthy. People here live long, happy lives. The city has tall buildings and lots of places to see, like old temples and special museums. It mixes Chinese and Portuguese traditions in fun ways, especially in food. You can try tasty dishes that combine both cultures!
The name Macau comes from an old story about a sea goddess named Matsu. Local people believed she protected their harbor. When explorers arrived, they heard the name and it changed over time to Macau. Today, Macau is a busy, exciting place where old history meets new fun!
