Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is a big state in the middle of India. It is the second largest state in India by area. The capital city is Bhopal. Other important cities are Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain.
Nature and Wildlife
Madhya Pradesh has many forests and parks. It is home to animals like tigers, monkeys, and birds. Some of the forests cover about a quarter of the land. There are eleven National Parks, including Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park. The state bird is the dudhraj, and the tree is the teak.
Rivers and Mountains
The state has many rivers. The longest is the Narmada River, which flows between mountain ranges. Other rivers include the Tapti River and the Chambal. The highest point is Dhupgarh, which is 1,350 meters above sea level.
Culture and History
Madhya Pradesh has a long history. Ancient cities like Ujjain were important places long ago. Many different rulers controlled the area over time. Today, the state is known for its beautiful temples and monuments. Three special places here are World Heritage Sites: the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, the Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi, and the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka.
