Marco van Basten

Marco van Basten was a very talented football player from the Netherlands. He was born on October 31, 1964, in Utrecht. Marco played as a forward, which means he was good at scoring goals.

He started playing football when he was just six years old for a local team called EDO. Soon after, he joined UVV Utrecht and then moved to the famous club Ajax when he was 16. At Ajax, he became an important player very quickly.

Marco played for Ajax from 1982 to 1987. During this time, he scored lots of goals and was the top scorer in the league for four years in a row! One of his most famous moments was scoring an amazing overhead kick against FC Den Bosch.

In 1987, he moved to AC Milan in Italy. There, he won many awards, including the Ballon d’Or, which is given to the best footballer in Europe. He also helped AC Milan win several important trophies. However, Marco had some ankle problems. After many surgeries, he had to stop playing football when he was only 30 years old in 1995.

Even though he stopped playing early, Marco is remembered as one of football’s greatest players. He was known for his great skills, smart playing, and powerful shots.

After he stopped playing, Marco became a coach. He first helped Ajax as an assistant coach in 2003 and later became the manager of the Netherlands national team. He also managed other teams like Ajax again, Heerenveen, and AZ Alkmaar.

Marco van Basten won many awards during his career. With Ajax, he helped the team win the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. At AC Milan, he won Serie A and the European Cup. With the Netherlands national team, he was part of the team that won the UEFA European Championship in 1988.

He also received personal awards, including the Ballon d’Or three times and was named FIFA World Player of the Year. Marco is remembered for his great skills and his ability to score amazing goals.
