Martin Luther

Martin Luther was a special man from Germany. He lived a long time ago, from 1483 to 1546. People remember him because he helped change how some Christians think and pray.
Martin Luther grew up in a place called Eisleben. His family moved around a bit, and his father worked with copper mines. Luther went to school and later studied to be a teacher. But something changed when he felt scared during a big storm. He decided to become a monk, which means a person who lives a simple life to pray and learn about God.
Luther worked hard as a monk and teacher. He taught at a university and spent lots of time reading and thinking about the Bible. He believed that people could find God’s love just by believing in their hearts, not by doing many things.
One day, Luther wrote a list of ideas called the Ninety-five Theses. He shared these ideas in 1517, and many people read them. His words spread fast because of printing, and he even wrote the Bible in German so everyone could read it. Luther also got to marry Katharina von Bora, and they had a happy family together.
Today, people remember Luther for helping make the Bible easier to read and for starting something called the Protestant Reformation. Places like Lutherstadt Eisleben and Lutherstadt Wittenberg are named after him, and every year on October 31st, people celebrate Reformation Day to honor his ideas.
