Mbabane

Mbabane is the largest city in Eswatini, a beautiful country in southern Africa. It is one of the two capitals of Eswatini, along with Lobamba. Many important government offices are in Mbabane.

The city is close to the Mbabane River and the Polinjane River, which flow through the pretty Mdzimba Mountains. Mbabane is in the Hhohho Region and is also the regional capital. It sits about 1,243 meters above sea level.

Mbabane began as a small town in 1887. It grew after it became the capital in 1902. The city was named after a local chief, Mbabane Kunene. Today, Mbabane has many places for visitors, like hotels and markets.

Because Mbabane is high up, the weather is mild and comfortable. It does not snow often, and temperatures stay gentle throughout the year. The city is a busy place with many people working in business and trade.

Mbabane has special connections with cities around the world, called twin towns or sister cities. Some of these friends are Fort Worth in the United States, Taipei in Taiwan, and Maputo in Mozambique.
