Memphis International Airport

Memphis International Airport is a big airport in Memphis, Tennessee. It is very important because it is where FedEx Express sorts packages for people all over the world. FedEx sends packages to places like the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and South America.

The airport has four runways where airplanes take off and land. It covers a large area of 3,900 acres. Every day, there are over 80 passenger flights.

Memphis International Airport opened in 1929. It became very busy during a difficult time when countries did not get along. In 1973, FedEx started using the airport as its main place for sorting packages. The airport is being renamed to honor Frederick W. Smith, the founder of FedEx, who passed away in 2025.

People can visit the airport to see airplanes, learn about FedEx, and maybe even watch packages being sorted. The airport has buses and cars to help travelers get to and from Memphis.
