Minnesota is bordered by Canada to the north, Wisconsin to the east, Iowa to the south, and North Dakota and South Dakota to the west. The name Minnesota comes from the Dakota language. It means something about "clear blue water" or "cloudy water," linked to the Minnesota River.

The state's biggest cities are Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Together, they are called the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Many people live there. Minnesota has many lakes, forests, and prairies. It is a great place for outdoor fun like fishing, boating, and hiking.

Minnesota has cold winters and warm summers. People enjoy many sports, including hockey, baseball, and football. The Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins are popular teams. The state also has many parks and lakes for families to explore.

Minnesota's culture is rich, with influences from many places around the world. People there love music, art, and festivals. The Minnesota State Fair is a big event where people can see many things and have fun.
