Mohenjo-daro
Mohenjo-daro is an ancient city in the Larkana District of Sindh, Pakistan. It was built around the year 2500 BCE and was one of the biggest cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation. People lived there a very long time ago, at the same time as ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and other old places.
Mohenjo-daro was a busy city with straight streets and neat buildings. The city had special baths, markets, and homes with small wells for water. Some homes even had rooms to wash and warm water!
People found Mohenjo-daro again in the 1920s. In 1980, it became a special place protected by UNESCO, the first in South Asia to get this title. Today, people work hard to take care of this old city.
Many interesting things were found at Mohenjo-daro, like small statues and tools. One famous find is a bronze statue called the "Dancing Girl." It shows a young woman dancing and tells us that people in Mohenjo-daro liked music and dance.
Mohenjo-daro faces some problems today because of weather and old repairs. But many people around the world help to protect this special place so we can learn about our past.
