Meet the Mustelids

Mustelids are a fun family of small, clever animals. They include weasels, badgers, otters, sea otters, polecats, martens, grisons, and wolverines. These animals live all around the world, in forests, mountains, and near water.

Mustelids are very smart and have strong senses. They can be tiny, like the least weasel, or big, like the giant otter from Amazonian South America. Some mustelids live in trees, while others dig tunnels to call home.

These animals have long bodies, short legs, and thick fur. They can climb, dig, or swim because they have five toes on each foot. Most mustelids live alone and are active at night. Their fur changes with the seasons to help them stay hidden.

Mustelids are part of a bigger group called Caniformia, which includes animals like dogs. They have been around for millions of years and come in many shapes and sizes, making them very interesting to learn about.
