New York Stock Exchange Building

The New York Stock Exchange Building is a very important place in New York City. It is where the New York Stock Exchange works. This big building has two parts connected together.

The older part at 18 Broad Street was built between 1901 and 1903. It has beautiful white marble and big columns that look like old Roman buildings. Inside, there is a huge room where people used to trade, and smaller rooms for meetings and offices.

The newer part at 11 Wall Street was added between 1920 and 1922. It is taller and also made of marble. This part has many floors with offices and old trading spaces.

The building is very special to many people. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1978 and is part of the Wall Street Historic District. Artists have made fun and famous statues near it, like a bull and a fearless girl.

Today, most trading happens on computers, but the building still stands as a symbol of finance and history in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan.
