Sir Norman Brookes was an amazing Australian tennis player. He was born on November 14, 1877, in St Kilda, a part of Melbourne. His father found gold near Bendigo, which made the family rich.

Norman loved playing tennis. He started young and became very good. In 1907, he won a big tennis tournament called Wimbledon in England. He won it again in 1914. He was the first person not from Britain to win Wimbledon! He also won another big tournament called the Australasian Championships in 1911.

Norman played for the Australian Davis Cup team and helped them win many times. After he stopped playing, he became president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia. Today, the trophy for the Australian Open men's singles is called the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup to honor him.

Norman married Mabel, and they had three daughters. He passed away in South Yarra, Victoria in 1968. People remember him for his great tennis skills and his love for the game.
