Orcus

Orcus was a god from old stories of the Etruscans and Romans. He was known as a god who watched over promises and oaths. People thought he lived in a dark place, much like the god Hades.

Orcus was sometimes linked with other gods like Dis Pater and Pluto. This shows how different cultures shared their stories about gods. Some believe the name Orcus came from a Greek spirit called Horkos.

Today, Orcus is remembered in many ways. In stories, the word “ogre” might come from a word that sounded like Orcus. Famous books and games also use the idea of scary creatures called orcs, inspired by old tales. Even in space, there is a dwarf planet named Orcus because it is similar to Pluto. This dwarf planet has a moon named Vanth.
