Oristano
Oristano is a lovely city on the island of Sardinia in Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Oristano and sits on the edge of the Campidano plain. About 30,007 people live there, making it the seventh-largest city in Sardinia.
The city has a warm, subtropical mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. Rain mostly falls in the winter, and even on dry summer nights, it stays comfortably warm.
Oristano is known for its special traditions and beautiful sights. One famous event is Sa Sartiglia, a fun horse race held over two days during Carnival. Riders try to catch a tiny star hanging above the street. This race has been going on for more than 500 years and is thought to predict how well the harvest and carpentry work will go that year.
The city has many old and beautiful buildings, like St. Mary's Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis. These places show how people lived and built long ago. Visitors can also see old towers, such as the Tower of St. Christophoros, which tells us about the city's past walls.
Oristano is easy to reach by train from places like Cagliari and Sassari, or by bus from the station near Piazza G.Manno. Even though its small airport, Fenosu Airport, is not open for passengers anymore, the city still connects well with nearby towns and other parts of Sardinia.
