Paul Allen
Paul Allen was a kind and smart man who loved to help others. He was born on January 21, 1953, in Seattle, Washington. Paul went to a special school called Lakeside School where he met his friend Bill Gates. Both boys loved computers and spent a lot of time learning how to make them work.
In 1975, Paul and Bill started a company called Microsoft Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They made a special language called BASIC that helped people use computers better. This helped start what we call the microcomputer revolution.
After some time, Paul left his daily work at Microsoft but kept many shares in the company. He started another company called Vulcan Inc. with his sister, Jody Allen, to manage his work and charities.
Paul loved sports and owned two teams: the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trail Blazers. He helped build special places for people to watch games, like the Moda Center in Portland and CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
Paul also loved science and gave lots of money to help learn about the brain, computers, and cells. He started three special places called the Allen Institutes for Brain Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cell Science. These places share what they learn with scientists all over the world.
Paul Allen passed away in 2018, but his good work continues to help many people around the world. He will always be remembered for his kindness and for making the world a better place.
