What is a Pixel?

A pixel is a tiny building block that helps make up pictures on screens and in photos. Think of pixels like the small squares that come together to draw everything you see on a computer, phone, or TV. Each pixel can show a different color, and when many of them line up, they create images that look clear and real.

How Do Pixels Work?

Pixels are arranged in rows and columns, like a grid. Each one can change its brightness or color. In color pictures, a pixel usually shows a mix of red, green, and blue. By mixing these colors in different ways, we can make almost any color you can imagine. The more pixels an image has, the sharper and more detailed it looks.

Fun Pixel Fact

A long time ago, pixels were much bigger and easier to see. This led to a special kind of art called pixel art. In pixel art, pictures are made using careful blocks of color, and it looks like a fun, old-style video game! Today, screens have many tiny pixels, so pictures look very smooth and lifelike.
