Private transport means using vehicles just for yourself or your own small group. It is different from public transport, which anyone can use. With private transport, you get to choose when and where you go.

People use many kinds of private transport. You can ride in a private car, like an automobile or an SUV in places such as the United States. Some people ride bicycles, like in the Netherlands. Long ago, people used horse-drawn carriages in places like Malta. Others ride motorcycles in Germany.

Private transport can also include boats, airplanes, snowmobiles, and even things like scooters or roller skates for fun. These vehicles are not for everyone to use; they belong to one person or a small group.

Cycling and walking are great ways to travel that help the Earth. When people use their own muscles to move, like riding a bike or walking, they use very little energy and don’t add much pollution to the air. Private transport, like cars, can hurt the environment, but we can make it better by choosing the right ways to travel.
