A Happy Celebration in Regina
Queen City Pride is a joyful celebration that happens every year in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is part of the LGBT pride festivals and takes place in mid-June, usually the week after Saskatoon Pride.
The celebration starts with a special moment when the rainbow flag is raised at the Regina City Hall. The event ends with a fun parade and a community fair on Saturday. Many people come together to enjoy and show their support.
Queen City Pride began on June 23, 1990. Smaller pride events happened in Regina during the 1970s and 1980s. In 2014, the mayor of the city, Michael Fougere, raised the rainbow flag to start the event for the first time. The event did not happen in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it came back in 2022.
