The Rashidun

The Rashidun were the first four leaders of the Muslim community after Muhammad passed away. These leaders were called caliphs. Their names were Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. They ruled from 632 to 661. This time is called the Rashidun Caliphate.

People think of this time as a good and fair example to follow. In Sunni Islam, these four caliphs are seen as rightly guided leaders. Shia Muslims have a special belief that Ali was especially chosen to lead after Muhammad.

These four caliphs helped build and organize the Muslim community during an important time. Their actions and decisions still influence many people today.

The Rashidun caliphs were very important to many Muslims. For Sunni Islam, they were great examples of good rulers. They were close friends and family of Muhammad. Over time, Muslims have had different views about these early leaders.
