Seaweed

Seaweed is like underwater plants that grow in the ocean. There are three main types: red Rhodophyta, brown Phaeophyta, and green Chlorophyta. Some seaweed, like kelps, gives young fish and sea animals a safe place to grow. This helps keep our food sources healthy.

Seaweed also helps our planet by catching carbon from the air and making oxygen. We breathe this oxygen every day! Seaweed can be found all around the world, from cold places to warm ones. It grows near rocky shores and sometimes floats freely in the water.

People have used seaweed for a very long time. Today, it is grown on farms in many countries. Seaweed is used for food, like in Japan and China. It is also used to make useful things, like chemicals and even food for animals. Scientists are studying ways to grow more seaweed to help our planet by taking carbon out of the air.

Seaweed is important for sea life and for our Earth. It gives homes to many sea creatures and helps keep our oceans healthy.
