What Is a Sunset?

A sunset is when the Sun goes away for the night. It happens because the Earth spins around. Almost everywhere on our planet, the Sun disappears below the horizon once every day. This beautiful moment makes the sky turn warm colors like red, orange, and pink.

Why Do We See Beautiful Colors?

When the Sun is low, its light travels through more air. This makes blue and green light spread out, leaving mostly red and orange colors. That is why sunsets often look so pretty. Sometimes, the sky looks even more colorful because of tiny particles in the air.

Sunset on Other Places

Sunsets can look different on other worlds. On the Moon, there is no air, so the light changes slowly. On Mars, the Sun looks smaller, and the colors can be blue because of the dust there. Each place has its own special way of saying goodbye to the Sun.
