Tamaulipas

Tamaulipas is a beautiful state in Mexico. It is one of the 31 states that make up Mexico, along with Mexico City. It has 43 areas called municipalities.

Tamaulipas is found in the northeast part of Mexico. It touches Nuevo León to the west, San Luis Potosí to the southwest, and Veracruz to the southeast. To the north, it shares a long border with the state of Texas. To the east, it meets the Gulf of Mexico.

The biggest cities in Tamaulipas include its capital, Ciudad Victoria, and other lively places like Reynosa, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, Tampico, and Mante. These cities are full of energy and history.

The name Tamaulipas comes from an old word, Tamaholipa. In the Huastec language, tam- means "place where." People think holipa might mean "high hills." The name reminds us of the Lipan Apache people who lived there long ago.

Tamaulipas has many different lands. Along the coast, it is flat and sandy. Further inside, there are tall mountains and wide open spaces with lots of cactus plants. Animals like the cougar and quail live here, making it a wonderful place for nature lovers.

The state has warm weather, with average temperatures around 23.5 °C (74.3 °F). Rain usually falls between June and September, helping the land stay green and beautiful.
