Who was Theia?

Theia was a special person in old stories from Greece. She was one of the Titans, which means she was one of the very first gods. Her name means “divine,” which is a word for something very holy and special.

Theia’s Family

Theia was born from Gaia, the Earth, and Uranus, the Sky. She married her brother, Hyperion, who was a god of light. Together, they had three very important children: Helios, the god of the Sun; Selene, the goddess of the Moon; and Eos, the goddess of the Dawn.

Why Do We Remember Theia?

Even though Theia did not do many big things in the stories, people remember her because of her wonderful children. She is also remembered in science, where some scientists use her name for a hidden planet that might have helped create our Moon. Theia’s story is very old and special, and she is still talked about today.
