Thermometer

A thermometer is a fun tool that helps us know how hot or cold something is. Think of it like a little helper that tells us the temperature!

Thermometers have two main parts. The first part is a sensor, like a tiny bulb. The second part shows us the temperature as a number. Some thermometers use special liquids, like mercury, inside glass tubes. Others use special tools that can see heat from far away.

We use thermometers everywhere! They help us keep our food at the right temperature, make sure our bodies are healthy, and even help scientists in labs. They are very important in many places, like factories, weather stations, and homes.

Long ago, people started thinking about how to measure temperature. One early idea came from a man named Philo of Byzantium, who lived around 300 BC. He used a tube and a container of liquid to show changes in air temperature. Later, other smart people built on his ideas.

Today, we have many kinds of thermometers. Some are old and made of glass, while others are new and can show the temperature on a screen. No matter what they look like, thermometers help us every day by telling us about heat and cold!
