Thimphu
Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan, a beautiful country in South Asia. It became the capital in 1955. The city sits in a valley at a very high altitude, making it one of the highest capitals in the world.
Thimphu is an important place for the government and people of Bhutan. Many key buildings are there, including the National Assembly and the king's official residence, Dechencholing Palace. The city grows carefully to protect nature.
The culture of Bhutan shines in Thimphu. People follow traditional ways, including special clothing and customs. Each year, the city hosts the Tshechu festival. This festival has colorful mask dances called Cham dances, which tell beautiful stories.
Thimphu has many interesting places. The Tashichho Dzong is a big, old building that serves as both a religious place and a government office. The Memorial Chorten is a tall, golden tower built to honor the third king of Bhutan. There is also a special park for the takin, Bhutan's national animal, at the Motithang Takin Preserve.
People in Thimphu enjoy many activities. Archery is the national sport, and people play it at the Changlimithang Stadium. The city also has schools, hospitals, and places to learn about Bhutan's traditions. The National Library has many old books and shows how people lived long ago.
Thimphu is a special place where old traditions meet new life, all while keeping the beautiful valley safe and green.
