Thousand Oaks is a lovely city in Ventura County, California. It is part of the big Greater Los Angeles area and is close to Los Angeles. The city is named after the many oak trees that grow there.
Thousand Oaks became an official city in 1964. Since then, it has grown into a peaceful place with beautiful neighborhoods. The city has a population of about 126,966 people. It is known for its oak trees and calm surroundings.
The area has a long history. Long ago, the Chumash people lived there. Today, you can still see old paintings they made. In the 1920s, a boy named Bobby Harrington suggested the name "Thousand Oaks" because of all the trees.
Thousand Oaks has many places to visit. You can explore parks, enjoy nature, and visit interesting museums. The city has a special place called the Chumash Indian Museum where you can learn about the past. There are also beautiful gardens and hiking trails.
