Timbuktu
Timbuktu is an ancient city in Mali. It is located near the Niger River and the edge of the Sahara desert. The city has a very long history and was once a very important place for trading and learning.
People have lived near Timbuktu for a very long time. The city grew because it was on important trade routes. Traders brought valuable goods like salt, gold, and ivory to exchange with others. Because of this, Timbuktu became a rich and busy place.
During its golden days, Timbuktu was part of the Mali Empire. It was a wonderful place for learning, with great schools like the Sankoré Madrasah. Many smart people from around the world came to study there. The city was full of books and ideas.
Timbuktu is also known for its beautiful old buildings, like mosques and schools. Even today, people work hard to protect these important places. The city has a special feeling of mystery, which makes it famous all over the world.
