Veal

Veal is meat from young calves. It is different from beef, which comes from older cows. Most veal comes from baby male calves from dairy cows. These little calves are not needed for breeding, so people raise them for their meat.
People use veal in many tasty dishes. In Italy and France, veal is often made into thin slices. One famous dish is Wiener schnitzel, which is a breaded veal slice. Because veal has less fat than other meats, it needs special care when cooking to keep it tender and juicy.
Some people care about how veal calves are raised. In the past, calves were sometimes kept in very small spaces. Today, many places have rules to make sure calves have more room to move and are treated better. Countries like those in the European Union have changed their rules to help the calves.
Veal gives us important nutrients like protein and iron. But health experts say itβs good to eat red meats, including veal, only a few times each week to stay healthy.
