Vega C is a special rocket that helps send small satellites up into space. It was made by Avio and is an improved version of the older Vega rocket. Vega C can carry heavier satellites than its predecessor and is used for important science missions and watching Earth from space.

The European Space Agency approved Vega C in December 2014. It was first launched by Arianespace but will soon be managed by Avio. Vega C can send a 2,300-kilogram spacecraft into a 700-kilometre orbit, which is much more than the original Vega.

Vega C is named after Vega, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. It has three solid fuel stages and one liquid fuel stage, so it does not need extra boosters. Companies from many countries helped build it, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
