Wool
Wool is a cozy kind of fiber that comes from animals like sheep, goats, and rabbits. It is special because it keeps us warm and is used to make many things.
Wool is made from tiny cells in the skin called follicles. It grows in soft waves, which helps it stick together when made into yarn. Wool can hold a lot of water, up to one-third of its own weight, and it does not catch fire easily.
People have used wool for thousands of years to make clothes and other items. It is very important in many places because it helps create jobs and trade. Wool is often mixed with other materials to make new fabrics that are strong and soft.
Wool is most commonly taken from sheep by a worker called a shearer. This process is called sheep shearing. The wool is then cleaned in a process called scouring before it can be used to make products.
Wool is used to make many things, like warm clothes, blankets, and even special cosmetic products. It is loved for its softness and ability to keep us comfortable in different weather.
