Yahweh

Yahweh was an ancient god loved by people from the ancient Levant. He became very important to the kingdoms of Israel-Samaria and Judah during a time called the Iron Age. People started worshipping Yahweh even earlier, in the Bronze Age.

Yahweh was thought to control the weather and bring good things, like rain and harvests, to the Land of Israel. People believed he could lead armies to victory. At first, many Israelites believed in several gods, but slowly Yahweh became the most important one.

As time passed, people began to think Yahweh was the only god who made everything. Later, Jewish people used other words instead of saying Yahweh’s name out loud. Today, we find Yahweh’s name in very old writings from places like ancient Egypt.

Yahweh’s name is sometimes seen in old songs and words, like "Hallelujah!" Even though people do not say his name much anymore, Yahweh remains a key part of history and faith for many.
