Who Was Alcmene?

Alcmene was a special and important woman from Greek mythology. She was the wife of a man named Amphitryon. Together, they had two children named Iphicles and Laonome.

A Very Special Mother

Alcmene is best known because she became the mother of a great hero named Heracles. Heracles was not just her son; he was also the child of Zeus, the powerful king of the gods. This made Alcmene a very important person in old stories.

A Royal Family

Alcmene was also called Electryone because she was the daughter of a king named Electryon. Her family and story were part of many myths that helped people learn about the heroes and gods of Greece. People remembered her for being wise and beautiful.
