The Iliad
The Iliad is an ancient story from Greece. It was written a long time ago and is one of the oldest books people still read today. It was made by a poet named Homer. The story is about a big battle called the Trojan War.
The Iliad tells what happened in the last part of the war. It is about a great fighter named Achilles and his strong feelings. Achilles gets very upset with a king named Agamemnon. There are also many other brave heroes and kings in the story.
People love the Iliad because it shows many important ideas. It talks about being proud, wanting to be famous, and doing what you think is right. The story also has gods and goddesses who watch over the heroes and sometimes help them.
The Iliad was written in a special kind of old Greek called Homeric Greek. It was told by people who could remember the words and then written down much later. Today, the Iliad is still read in schools and by people who love stories about brave heroes and old times.
The story happens in a place called Troy, a city that was very important in the old stories. Many artists and writers have used ideas from the Iliad in their own work, making it a very special and famous story all around the world.
