Territorial police force
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Adventurer experience
A territorial police force is a group of police officers who help keep people safe in a certain area, like a state or a province. This is different from police who work for the whole country or focus on just one type of crime. In countries made of smaller parts, called federations, each smaller part usually has its own police force. These officers work to make sure everyone in their area stays safe and follows the rules. They are important because they protect the people who live and visit in their region.
Canada
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP/GRC) is the main police service for Canada. It works for the whole country and also serves as the local police in most areas. However, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador have their own local police teams. In places like Nunavut, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories, the RCMP is also the local police, in addition to handling national matters.
Spanish Sahara
A special group called the Policia Territorial helped the Spanish colonial government. This group was similar to the Civil Guard in Spain. It was led by Spanish leaders and had Spanish members.

In the United Kingdom, the term "territorial police force" is used to describe the police teams that protect certain areas. These areas are based on where local governments are located. Sometimes, these teams are called "Home Office Police", but this name does not always include all the right teams, especially those outside England and Wales.
The territorial police forces work in areas set by different laws:
- The Police Act 1996 for England and Wales, which later matched the Metropolitan Police District to the boundary of Greater London
- The Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012 for Scotland
- The Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 for Northern Ireland, which changed the name from the Royal Ulster Constabulary to the Police Service of Northern Ireland but kept the same area.
Officers in these police forces work under one of the three legal systems in the UK: England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland. They have full powers within their own system but limited powers in the others, except in special cases like providing support during big events or protecting someone being taken to or from a prison.
United Nations
The United Nations has sometimes created police forces to help in places where the UN is in charge. These police teams are usually made up of officers from different countries that are members of the UN. One example is when they did this in East Timor instead of using the Indonesian National Police.
