Veszprém County

Veszprém is an administrative county, also called a vármegye, in Hungary. The main city in the county is also named Veszprém. People have lived in this area for a very long time, and it has a rich history. The county is known for its beautiful landscapes and important historical sites. Veszprém county is in western Hungary. It has the Bakony hills and the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The county touches several other Hungarian counties: Vas, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér, Somogy, and Zala. The main city and capital is Veszprém. The river Marcal runs along part of the western edge of the county. The county covers 4,613 km².

History

Veszprém County has a long and interesting history. It has been important in Hungary for many years. The county is named after the city of Veszprém, which is also its capital. Over time, the area has changed and been part of different cultures. Today, it is still an important part of Hungary.

Demographics

Veszprém County in Hungary had a population of 346,647 in 2015. There were 77 people living in each square kilometer.

Most people in the county are Hungarians. There are also smaller groups of Germans and Roma people. Many people follow Roman Catholicism, but others follow Calvinistic, Lutheran, or other Christian beliefs. Some people do not follow any specific religion.

Veszprém County has one city, 14 towns, two large villages, and 200 small villages.

The main city is Veszprém. Other important towns are Pápa, Ajka, and Várpalota. There are also many smaller villages in the county.
