Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) is an international organization that brings together the current 206 National Olympic Committees recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It serves as a group for these committees to share ideas and support each other.
Every two years, ANOC holds a big meeting called the ANOC General Assembly. During this meeting, special awards known as the ANOC Awards are given out to the best athletes and committees since 2014.
ANOC also organizes a fun sports event called the ANOC World Beach Games. This is a multi-sport event that happens every two years, where athletes from different countries come together to compete in beach and outdoor sports.
History
The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) started in June 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Its goal is to help the International Olympic Committee take care of the needs of National Olympic Committees. ANOC offers support, advice, and recommendations to help these committees grow and develop.
Members
The Association of National Olympic Committees has members from five different areas of the world. It started in 1979, with a leader from Mexico. In 2012, a leader from Kuwait took over, but later stepped down. In 2022, Robin Mitchell became the new leader during a meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
