Belize at the Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Belize first joined the Olympic Games in 1968 and has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. During this time, from 1968 to 1972, Belize was still called British Honduras. Unlike many other countries, Belize has never taken part in the Winter Olympic Games.

The National Olympic Committee for Belize was formed in 1967 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee the same year. This group helps organize and support Belizean athletes who want to compete in the Olympics.

So far, no athlete from Belize has won an Olympic medal. The best performance came in 2012 when Kenneth Medwood placed fifth in his semifinal heat in the 400m hurdles. Even without a medal, Belize continues to send competitors to the Olympics, showing their spirit and determination.
