Transnational Boxing Rankings Board

Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB) started in October 2012. It is a group made up of volunteers who are professional journalists, boxing historians, and record keepers from all over the world. Their goal was to help make the sport of professional boxing better by creating top-ten rankings for each weight division and by deciding who the best boxer in each division is.

The TBRB wanted to make sure their rankings and titles were not controlled by promoters or the traditional sanctioning bodies. They believed this would help bring more fairness and order to the sport. The board works hard to give clear and honest information about who the best boxers are, which helps fans and people in the sport understand who the real champions are.

TBRB championships

The TBRB gives out championship titles when the best fighters in each weight class meet. They call these fighters the "true champions."

Before the TBRB started, three champions were already recognized by The Ring magazine. The TBRB was created to continue this work after some changes happened at The Ring. Some important people from The Ring helped start the TBRB in 2012.

In 2013, a boxing expert on ESPN praised the TBRB's work. Later, in 2021, a British magazine called Boxing News decided to only recognize the TBRB's champions as the real world champions.

TBRB Voting Panel members

The TBRB Voting Panel has members from 21 different countries across five continents. These countries include Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, England, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, and the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
